My daughters have been considering donated hair to Locks of Love for some time. Lock of Love is a nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss. The key is that the hair has to be a minimum of 10 inches long. My daughters don’t want short hair so it’s been a long wait.
They were talking about it again so I went on-line to check it out. I realized the hair is to be put in a ponytail first, then measured and cut. When we realized their hair was long enough to cut it with out it being too short for their liking they were VERY excited! They were ready for me to cut it – now!
I’ve always cut there hair because it’s easy – straight across the back. We’ll I knew cutting it in a pony tail would make the hair very uneven once taken out of the pony tail. We made the pony tail, measured for 10 inches and CUT! When I cut some to make it even after taking it out of the pony tail, I realized this was a job for a professional! I didn’t want to mess it up and make it shorter! Since this was in the evening. I told them they should wear there hair in a pony tail to school the next day and we would go some place right after school to get it trimmed and evened out.
They were so proud of their little haircut they wanted to wear their hair down to school. Okay, fine with me it didn’t embarrass them but it was embarassing for me! The hairstylist got some laughs when I brought them in!
We are a mom’s group ministry of Ginger Creek Community Church in Aurora, IL. Our mission is to create a support system for women in the profession of motherhood. To educate and challenge them as wife, mother, and home manager while providing a safe place where they are valued and encouraged through a growing relationship with Christ. We hope this blog will extend some of this ministry to you.
