It all began so innocently. I was right next to a Bargain Bookstore, when I was making copies for my parents 50th Anniversary scrapbook (another story altogether). I decided to check it out to see if I could find a book that would be of interest to my son to give to him for Valentines Day. I had already got my daughters a book from a series that they are interested in reading.
Did I go straight to the Sport Section? Oh, no! I’ll just check out what they have in the Religion Section, I thought. Much to my surprise, it wasn’t just books published 10 years ago, but books I had been eyeing at the Christian bookstore. And what a great price – of course! Then there was a book by my mom’s favorite author, Karen Kingsbury. This book I could read before I give to my mom since I won’t see her until the end of April – I tell myself.
Thank goodness I didn’t have a lot of time to be there! I did find a perfect book for my son on being a quarterback football player – specifically written for kids that included a DVD! Perfect! I walked out with four books. But it was a buy one get one free up to two per visit!!
Check it out yourself at Bargain Books in Danada in Wheaton, near the Old Navy store. Then again, if bookstores are dangerous for you too…you may want to pass.

We are a mom’s group ministry of Ginger Creek Community Church in Aurora, IL. Our mission is to create a support system for women in the profession of motherhood. To educate and challenge them as wife, mother, and home manager while providing a safe place where they are valued and encouraged through a growing relationship with Christ. We hope this blog will extend some of this ministry to you.
I am a recovering bookstore addict! I finally had to stay away from the dreaded women’s or mom’s conference book stores. Every year I’d walk away with 4-6 books and read 1! Then feel guilty for not reading the others. So essentially I always felt behind and too stressed. I had to resist the temptation to even go in. But then there’s the KIDS’ SECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE bookstores. Which is why I can’t go in them.
